Trademark Registration in Israel
Trademark registration
Do you have a business or company and want to register a trademark? Do you have a logo, trade name or an invention? It is time to protect them. Registering a trademark for your business is not a complicated process, but it can take a long time, so it is worth doing it through a law office that specialises in intellectual property in order to shorten the process. A professional intellectual property lawyer will protect you and your IP, advise you on how best to protect it and register it according to your actual needs.
What is a trademark?
Israel’s Trademarks Ordinance protects trademarks and the goodwill and reputation of their owners. The aim is to prevent consumers from being misled into thinking they are buying a product under another brand – for example, a phone displayed with the logo of a well-known manufacturer that is in fact an imitation made by someone else.
How is legal protection obtained?
An intellectual property lawyer registers the trademark and so protects your rights. Registration is valid for 10 years, but trademark protection can be renewed again and again for an unlimited period.
How do the different registrable rights differ?
A trademark protects, among other things, your goodwill and the trade name you have built. Even if your business is brand new, you cannot know how far its reputation and success will reach, so it is advisable to register early in the life of the business. The law distinguishes trademarks from other rights: a design, such as a special shape of jewellery, is protected for a limited period, after which it enters the public domain. Patents also have a limited term and differ in many respects. For the cost of registering a trademark and any other question, call us on 079-6082227.
Lawyer for website terms and conditions
In addition to trademark registration, drafting your website’s terms is very important. A lawyer will draft terms that protect your rights as the site owner and the rights in its content. Copying content and logo designs happens every day online, so good legal support is important to protect your content and designs.
How are terms of use written from a legal point of view?
You can have the terms of use for your website or app drafted and edited by the team at Paz Israel & Co., who have extensive experience in legal drafting for websites in every field. Terms of use must be well written so that every condition is clear to anyone who visits your site for information, services or the purchase of physical or digital products.
A privacy policy for your website
In addition to terms of use and trademark registration, our team can draft a privacy policy for your website or app, as the basis for protecting the privacy of the visitors who use it every day.

Frequently asked questions
Where is a trademark registered in Israel?
With the Registrar of Trademarks at the Israel Patent Office. The application is examined, published for opposition, and if no successful opposition is filed, the mark is registered.
How long is registration valid?
Ten years, and it can be renewed for further periods.
Why search before filing?
To make sure there is no identical or similar mark already registered for the same goods or services. An early search saves time and money.
Can the mark be protected abroad?
Yes, through applications in the target countries or through the international procedure under the Madrid Protocol, to which Israel is a party.
How long does trademark registration take in Israel?
There is no fixed time. An application without office actions or oppositions finishes faster; one raising similarity issues or facing opposition can take much longer. After acceptance there is a three-month opposition period. Registration is valid for ten years from the filing date.
Can an unused trademark be cancelled?
Yes. An interested party can request cancellation of a registered mark not used in good faith in the three years before the request, subject to exceptions.
Does registering a company protect the brand name?
No. Company registration only prevents another company with an identical name. Protection of the name as a brand comes from registering a trademark at the Israel Patent Office.
